RE: How much anti-freeze?

As an aside, I learned last winter not to dilute RV anti-freeze with water. Here in Nevada cold is a little below zero. The housing that holds my RV water filter froze and broke inside the plumbing compartment.

RE: Rank your RV issues

With new lithiumn batteries, I have no issues on a 2012 Rockwood ultra lite. The one exception is a water filter housing that cracked. I am taking out the filter, since we don't drink out of the main water tank. In the past, I have had issues with furnaces, AC and refirs on older rigs. Most were easily repaired. Bad cable on a pop up once a long time ago.

RE: DEF fluid

Very simple formula. No perceived difference between suppliers of DEF.

RE: electric RV appliances

Just saw a presentation about lithium mining in Nevada. There are currently 42 prospects and about 25 proposed mine plans going throught the environmental review process. I will be using lithium batteries this week for the first time.

RE: electric RV appliances

I boondock most of the time and use propane. We use no electric appliances.

RE: Lithium Battery Upgrade

The new Ram truck has a 220 amp alternator. I am adding a 50 amp DC/DC charger to take advantage of all of that power. Then I have solar panels for when the rig is parked. I am installing the new Renogy charger which also has built in an MTTP solar charger.

RE: 2023 camping season

I am camping more here in the West. Mostly I do not make reservations, but go on weekdays and avoid National and State parks.

RE: Lithium Battery Upgrade

Now add the discussion about how to protect your alternator and prevent current flow from your starter battery to your house battery. If you are adding lithium batteries you must account for these two things.

RE: Go around northeast Ohio

I avoid the whole state.

RE: Tent Camping Forum

Just returned from a great camping trip in CA on the Tahoe National Forest. There was no one out there during the week at the height of tourist season. Beautiful forest and a great trip.

Try a new bulb.

RE: Ram fuel mileage

I am a hyper miler. By gently driving this week around the Valley I am getting 22.6 mpg. The engine is breaking in, but that means slowing well before stops and easy acceleration.

RE: Large Truck Campers: how practical?

My first Rv was a medium sized TC on a one ton Ford. They are heavy and make trucks top heavy. They are difficult in the wind. They take some time to load and unload. The big campers just make everything worse. I like travel trailers.

RE: Ram fuel mileage

20 empty. Around 11-12 with 24 foot trailer.

RE: Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo Seating Recommendations?

There are no bad seats. The arena is not that big. For the experience go down by the bucking chutes before and during the rodeo. Hang out in some local western bars after the rodeo.

RE: Hwys closed and wild fires in BC & Alberta

The same problems we have in the US. Too much fire suppression and not enough logging. Remoteness and lack of access is even worse.

RE: How critical is it to have a perfectly level trailer?

Good advice. Not the greatest tow vehicle. Propane refirs need to be pretty level. Your suspension needs to have the trailer pretty level.

RE: Crecent City via 199 Grant's Pass or 299 Redding

Take the long way. Make sure you do not try to follow the Rogue River.

RE: Some sites just are not accessible..

Some people think that is fun. Get out and test soft spots. Pulling a trailer is a lot harder than just running free on soft roads. I would have turned around.
